Hex/Allen Keys -- Saddle Adjustment
Howdy,
I need to do a saddle adjustment on one of my strats but can't find a hex key which fits! The key I usually use for my other guitar, and which fits just perfectly for that one, is too small. The next step up in my 14-piece (I think it's 14.. thereabouts anyway, it's a decent set) is too big.
The guitar is made-in-mexico and was purchased in Canada. Before I go out purchasing a new set of hex keys, what's more likely? That this particular guitar requires a metric key, or that I need to find an english key that's just slightly bigger than the .050" (I think) key that fits my made-and-bought-in-USA strat.
In other words, am I likely to find a right-fitting key if I buy a set of metric keys?
Thanks.
edit- a curious side note. The set I have includes a key that fits the truss rod of that guitar perfectly.. *shrug*

Are you using standard or a metric set? Do you have both set, in different sizes? It may be something related to this.

Nope, I only have an english set which is why I think it's probably that the saddle screws for that guitar are metric.
I just found this thread: http://www.jemsite.com/forums/f21/fe...ent-48225.html
It seems that is the likely case, and I should try to find a 1.5mm key. A .050" key works out to be 1.27mm.. slightly too small. Yarr.

Everthing else Fender, Mexican ect, use the 1.5mm keys

+1 MIM Strats use the 1.5MM Allen screws. Little buggers, and strip if you look at 'em wrong.
