Body Routing

What is the difference between bodies routed for 3 pups or routed out like a swimming pool? Is one supposed to be better for some reason? Sustain?

Well there are lots of reasons.

1. Old Fenders didn't have a swimming pool route
2. More wood is better than less wood.
3. Enhanced Sustain
4. That's not the way Leo did it.

I would guess the reasons for the big route are:
1. lower cost of building
2. increased pickup-style flexibility
3. lighter body overall

I personally prefer the old-fashioned way, but that's just my bias showing.
