Am Starndard truss rod nut lubrication

Hi,

I have an Am Std Strat that needs some truss rod adjustment. With my other guitars, before I adjust the truss rod for the first time, I take the nut off and lube the threads with vaseline. However, the nut on the Strat doesn't come off because of the walnut insert.

I looked at it with a flashlight and seem to see a hole in the middle of the hex that may lead down to the truss rod threads. If so, I could just put a drop of oil there. Has anyone taken one of these off during a repair? Is the nut hollow, or with a hole in the center?

Also, does anyone know if the truss rod on an '01, '02 Am Std Strat is double-acting?

Thanks for any insights.

Please check a thread by Jwells393 at the affiliated TDPRI. There's also a thread started by Aznrambo on the Strat topic page; these will answer all your questions far better than I can.
