Custom Shop Body

There is a custom shop body on ebay in LP blue that has "relic" stamped under the pickguard and also on the back in the trem spring pocket. Have you all seen that before and why do they stamp that on them?

Yep, this is routine. This is done on the relic'd bodies to keep them from being sold as a true vintage item. I don't know if it is done on the Closet Classics and NOS bodies as well, but I know it is done on the Relic bodies.

This means that someone is parting out a CS Relic guitar.

By the way, the "stamp" is actually embossed into the wood, not some rubber stamp or similar.

I've seen some that say "REL" and some that say "RELIC".

Here's one on Ebay now:

I have a custom shop Nocaster which also has these stamps in the body. As Strat-talk says, it's to make sure that no one gets scammed!

With all of the parting out, it's hard to tell what you get anymore on the secondary market. Probably a good thing that are at least doing something, as long as the buyer knows what to look for.
