Modern Player
I'm curious about the Modern Player Tele. Looks like a pretty versatile instrument. Are their any vintage tele tones in it?

I played one at GC. I loved it. The finish was beautiful, set up really well, tons of sustain, and the pickups were very versatile. Thumbs up here.
Edit: Saw your question. I wouldn't say "vintage" tones, of course it's a "modern player". However, once again very versatile so I would suspect you'd be able to achieve vintage tones.

What's your definition of "majority" and who is this "majority"? Because it really can vary upon player/genre/ect.
Edit: the price ain't bad and the reviews don't lie.

Okaaaaaaaayyyy....maybe. But to the OP, I say you'd have to try one yourself and be the judge. Seems like some hate em, some love em.

It's the same with my Highway 1 strat. I love it but I know a lot of folks don't like the pickups on them. Next time I'm at the GC I'll check one out.

Not worth arguing about, go play one , and be your own judge! I always look at reviews and You-Tube demo's, but don't put too much faith into them. .....poppa

I would be extremely skeptical of these "reviews". Sometimes I think these guys write in, talk about how great the guitar is, and they don't own it or if they do, they don't own a decent amp. Or, they're "pumping up" the model so they can dump the one they have or be consoled that it isn't so bad.
There aren't too many guitars getting beat up worse, the things I've read. And it agrees with my demos, what I hear from talking to players in stores. I was just talking to a guy in person who returned his last week.
The other thing that is very strange is, this model has a 22 fret ZERO overhang neck and so you are not even going to be able to sell the pieces parts. The guitar is isolated, can't be mixed matched, and this sort of situation will give it really awful resales value IMO.

I've tried a MP Thinline Deluxe and it's a beautiful guitar for the price. It was 3CSB with white guard and P90, very well sounding

I have the transparent black Deluxe and it kicks some major arse. Very similar build, the neck especially, to the Classic Vibes but I know they were built somewhere else.
Really fine guitar. Have had no compulsion to change pups or anything. Can't speak about the Tele plus. Haven't seen one yet but heard the same praise for it as the Deluxe.
(think we got ourselves a troll here)

the reason I don't read reviews is because, everyone is so over-opinionated.. how do you really know what the deal is with these idiots reviewing these things

I always like to read reviews. If something I'm interested in get bad reviews from the general public I usually love it. If it has good reviews I will think it sucks.

I read hundreds of reviews, but most are so glowing - basking the the thrill of a new purchase. I try to discount that - who wants to feel bad after they've dropped $500 or a thou on something? Of course they "love it to death"
I too am always totally jazzed about new purchasers - too bad they don't have to wait a month - then post a review

I've played the white HSS strat and the Tele. They were pretty awesome...especially for the price. I'm considering buying myself one for my birthday in March.
When they hit the used market they'll be the deal of the century. lol
