anyone got any examples of old strats with 'vintage glamour art' etc?
this is my old '64 fiesta red with gil elvgren artwork from the 1940/50 era i think?
robert cray and jimmie vaughan have similar decals on their strats - anyone else seen anything like it?
ok- i've had an update on this fashion.
apparently, it was something that started in hawaii - and they still do it now.
they would have paintings or decals of hula girls on their guitars.
there is a guy handmaking acoustic guitars and ukes with abalone shell inlay of hula girls etc.
an old bluesman from chicago once said it was something they did to their guitars after the 2nd world war - following on from the 'glamour girls' they had painted on the fuselage of their aircraft.
