strat pros take a look...

Hello everyone!

Does anyone know anything about the AMXN.... serial # strats? Do they have a nitro finish? Any info is good! Thanks for your help!

Not exactly Vintage, but these were of course American parts sourced strats to the Ensenada plant for paint, and then sent back for assembly in Corona. From those I've seen, it appeared they received a standard nitro finish (not a think skin or any other variation that I am aware of). There was an mention of this on H.C. way back when they were being called the California Series I believe.

I don't think Mexico finishes with Nitro at all. They don't now anyway.

I could be wrong.

I do know the California Series body parts were made in the US, then sent to Mexico for finishing and final assembly and then shipped back to the US. But I thought this was just to get the Ensenada factory working before their body and neck operations were up to speed.

You are probably right. It was likely a Poly finish I was thinking of...

There was a thing on you tube about the Mexico plant and how they have never done nitro there..........poly it is!!!

Thaus, do have a link? I couldn't find it. I did find the Made in America (John Ratzenberger) episode of the Corona Plant and a still photo tour of the Mexico plant (with Desert Rose as the theme song)...

I can't remember where I saw it.....sorry! I have looked up on youtube and a couple of other guitar places but nada............I know I saw a video of a tour of the Mexican plant and they mention the refinishing area and how it is all strictly poly finishes.
