So my index finger on my left hand got bit today. Was holding a work piece in place with my left hand making sure to keep fingers out of the way when a brad ran into an unseen knot and took a turn. Entered the tip of my finger and angled in just pushing up against the underside of the fingernail. The knot popped out with the rest of the brad attached, lucky me.

Needless to say I was thankful this otherwise boring project suddenly had all the spiciness I could have wanted. Grabbed the linemans pliers, placed the finger behind a stud with the offending brad past the edge so I could give it a good yank and it came out on the first yank.

Have to confess I did utter one expletive when it went in, but that was it. My advice is, don't do this for kicks. :) Playing should be "interesting" for a couple days.

Yeah, had to get that one done last year when I stepped on a rusty nail. :thumb:

I did picture framing for many years. So many staples, so many brads, so many slices from glass.

Looks like you got pretty lucky. Hope it heals nicely.

haha.. the night is young. :) I'm hoping it stays about the same as it is though. Fortunately 18gau brads are tiny.

    Ooh heck noooooo!

It will be black. Looks like it's getting there.

Keep an eye on It. A general infection would be my concern. Punctures suck.

Nails and brads. Please be more careful.

Back in the day you could bend the nail, damage the wood, smack your thumb with the hammer, or all 3.

Now you mostly get shot !

    Hope you heal fast !

One expletive? I would have gotten an email from Quentin Tarantino asking me to tone down my swearing!

    Heal up brother.

Ouch. Hope you aren't in too much pain tomorrow. If the finger falls off overnight, get it out of the bed before your wife finds it.

If I wake up and there is a wife in my bed, I'll be more shocked than if the finger fell off..lol

Oddly enough, I don't seem to have any problem finding profanities to use in everyday conversation. But for whatever reason, if it's pain due to injury of some kind I feel like going on a swearing spree is a sign of personal weakness. All the years of taking punches in classes maybe.

I actually sat down a while ago and played Black magic woman through a couple times, just to see how much it would suck.. Feels about the same as when you smash a finger with a hammer. I think I'll live and just have to ignore it for a couple days. It's sore but not unbearable. :) Yet.
