Although the looks are stunning, it will need to better than my whites... So it will have a hard time and some difficult tests to pass.
My wife doesn't want it to turn in to a museum here...

    Ummmmm.....

Not to meaning to rain on anyone's placid blue lake here, but I'm concerned about the neckpocket. Specifically the glossy (white?) finish under the paint stick:

Would rather be hoping to see this:

But, Bazz, that's a '62, to which you're comparing it. (How's that for proper English)?
Surely they changed their finishing technique in '63. :sneaky:

I know, I know. Stop calling you Shirley!

Beautiful Strat, but what's with the weird funny coloured blocks on the back of the neck???

    I'll know more on Sunday.
Haven't seen the guitar yet and the pictures are from a phone, so quite crappy.

It has a lot of details that make me think it's real. The way it's sprayed, the dates, the cavities,...
But I'll be only sure when I've examined it in hand.

The seller had a real '59 burst that was sold a couple of years ago, I consider him reliable.

    I wish...
Just got into mid-life crisis, so I think a LPB Strat would do me good :D

Ha! Jimi Hendrix had a mid-life crisis too. In his case, it was called puberty :p

Roll on Sunday. I know you're well qualified to assess this piece in person. If I was there too I'd be looking closely at that neck pocket - I've highlighted in the photo below where white has obviously come off the pocket and on to the heel. Not sure what it means in term of originality other than that there is white in the pocket that has transferred to the neck, and that said white appears to be glossy. Will wait eagerly for the in-person report!

Is anyone in the know enough to say whether it is correct to have a ceramic cap on a '63 Strat? I have an original '55 Strat that has the old oil and paper type. I still wouldn't look sideways at this beautiful '63 as a result of replacement cap.

Anyone else thinking about all the music that got played on it, the tears and joy?

    I don't completely understand what you're seeing?

Yes. The round dime capacitor was introduced in '61

Yes, but mostly thinking about what music can be played with it.

The 62s neck pocket looks right for a 63 but not for a 62. Paint stick in 62? My April 63 body doesn't have the paint stick mark

I think April was the transition period. I've seen both... partly painted and full paint...

    PS: Any blackguard advancements?

Has anybody seen a paintstick shadow with finish underneath like this one?

Trust me, I've been searching all day for an image!

(I think the paintstick shadow is exactly where it should be by the way..)

Could it be a case of custom finish on top of another custom finish?
