That occurred to me - but with a body that had the original custom finish before paintsticks were used, and the second custom finish after?

    It's Fender - anything's possible!

We're talking transition period for that right?

On another subject, does this red B mark look smudged or is it underneath the clear coat?

I searched a lot of those images too :) My d/p/wtf is in black ink, and not that smudged, but some of the red versions I've seen today are smudged like that.

    Maybe red runs more.... 20160423_143152Cropped.jpg

Yeah, just like all those = . + > punch marks in the same area!!

In my opinion, those marked "=" are highly superior examples :p

No, logically it would be the "+" that would be superior... and that kinda suits me... :D

    No two Strats are alike...

It's very hard to stay objective when you compare some guitars that you really like with a newcomer...

It plays well, not fabulous, but the other two are set up as how I like it. On the LPB I just put on a fresh set of strings.
The LPB has a slightly thinner neck, a little heavier than the others I have.
Sound is very nice, fuller on the neck pickup, pretty the same on the middle and I thought the bridge was less glassy than the other two. It has the neck pickup that is obstructed by the pickguard, so hard to lower or raise it without modification. I don't have that problem with the other two.

No decision has been made yet. I'm trowing this out in the open...
It's a good deal, the guitar is good. If I go for it, one needs to go. It would make more sense if that would be the refin. But that is the best Strat I've ever had in my hands... and I'm not alone in that assessment. I need to sleep on it

I now see the neck is not as thin as the refin... comes to show that data is the only thing that can be trusted...

Is that the one I saw in Belgium for sale? She's a beauty. I'm a sucker for those LPB early 60s strats.

    Yes. That's the one.
I turned it down (for now) and the seller put it under consignment with two nice young fellows in the business.
