Looking at an 88 MIA Standard with surprisingly few scratches and dings and excellent frets for a guitar of its age. They want $670. Comes with original hard case. I live in Japan and deals like this arent everyday, but not hens-tooth rare either. Whats more, is my company will send me to Houston (Im American) to spend some time back home in the US. Would Houston be a better place to find an American Std strat? pricewise, what are they going these days? Also... as far as MIA standards go... Ive heard the post 2000 models are better. But there was no supporting evidence. Can anyone clue me in as to why I might not want a 1988 MIA Std? Ive played it, and it sounds great, but I was playing it through a nice amp. I am concerned about the string trees. They are bent metal like on a 70s strat. Not the cast metal trees I see on contemporary strats. Was Fender still using bent steel string trees in 1988?
