I don't know much about Poplar - isn't the grain quite plain?
Poplar is the traditional wood of Mustangs. The grain is almost absent and it's very light-weight.
Doesn't sound ideal for a transparent finish
New Classic Vibes are poplar and 3TS color.
The Strats you mean? I don't think the Teles are. I think that some of the maple board CV Teles are pine? And the grain on my CVC Tele body looks too nice to be poplar.
OK OK, not bad. Can you get them in blue?
Great looking guitar @jarhead!!
...And greetings from down the road. I’m in Carthage.

Congrats! May you enjoy that wonderful guitar for many years to come!
That sure looks like ebony, it doesn't even show enough grain to look like rosewood, although it could be the picture.
Love it. Reminds me of a banana creme pie. Those new players series are great guitars.
I don't know about that ... here's a poplar top JM in the middle of the build process.
Poplar machines like maple. I have a couple of tiger flame striped poplar boards for something later. Big think is freshly cut boards have a green (mineral) tint that ages into browns.
Very beautiful piece of wood. Congrats.
