    I am hopeless at finding stuff on line.

    I have a 2017 American professional SSS guitar which l love but the pickups are not right. My instructor checked it after being set up for a second time and he says the pickups are a way off.

    Does anyone have the definitive pick up heights for each of the three pickups.

    i hope someone can help.

    Many thanks.

    Pickup height is subjective, but I found that this made sense to me.

    try this....
    be sure to hold the string down at the last fret when you measure, and measure from the bottom of the string to the pole piece.
    bass side....2mm
    treble side....1.6 mm

    In case you don't have a ruler that measures in millimeters, the conversion factor is
    25.4 millimeters per inch, so:
    2mm = 0.0787402 inch ( rounding off = 0.079 - or you could call it 0.08 in - appx 5⁄64” )
    1.6mm = 0.0629921 inch ( rounding off = 0.063 - or you could call it 0.06 in - appx 1⁄16” )

    MY GOD, My pickups on the base side must be about 5 mm and 4 on the treble. My instructor tried raising the treble side but could not make it any higher.
    Just confirming, this is the heights for the Professional Stratocaster with the new pickups????

    it shouldnt be that if you held the strings down at the last fret.

    Start with the specs @heltershelton gave you then use your ears to fine tune from there. Also fender has heights listed on their website

    the fender site is where I got those specs. they have different specs for different types of pickups. those I posted were for standard strat pickups, which is what I consider the pickups in the pro.

    YOU HAVE BEEN A GREAT HELP. I set up the three pickups to the above measurements and it does sound much better. The original measurements were all over the place. Many thanks :)

    I had the same doubt months ago and I wrote to Fender customer care. I received a reply with the same specs heltershelton wrote, but I had to adjust a bit to get a better sound.

    Anyway, here is their reply:

    Hello,

    For these pickups we set them roughly at 5/64" on the bass side and 4/64" on the treble. I hope this helps!
