Well, you are an international trend setter after all.
And I've been very bored tonight, can you tell?
Ah, Shadoogle, you had me at hello with the fiesta red. But I don't dig it with a maple fretboard. It looks kinda washed out. The turquoise looks awesome as well.
I think sunburst is the most popular even though I don't care for it. ENJOY!!!
I've only known one person aside from people on this forum who own Fiesta Red. My guess is Black, White, or Sunburst.
I think the BG Strat is hideous.
I think the "most sold" option is a little out of whack. For example, if you go to the ice cream isle on the day they restock, there will usually be the same number of chocolate ice cream packages available as there are vanilla. *But*, the chocolate portion of the rack will sell down more quickly than the vanilla. I think Strats have some of that going on. Fender produces and stocks the blacks and sunbursts the most--thus those sell the most quickly. But on the re-sale market, the white ones bring a slight premium in price.
I've just done a survey, and the most popular here is Red Wine Metallic. Small sample size though.
I think there are two kinds of popularity. First, hard sales numbers, which Fender doesn't release. Secondly, what people like the most, which isn't always what they have. A Honda Accord is more popular than a Lamborghini Aventador by the first metric. Either one is a fishing expedition for a never-ending thread.
By the second metric, we have "any color you like":
The most bestest color is obviously the one I like
Sunburst for me is the worst
I used to want every guitar black, now I've got a thing for sunburst.
It was sometimes known as salmon pink.
My money is on black for the no. 1 seller
but I also have no idea and frankly that is nothing better than a guess... I may as well just say "tomato is the no 1 color" it would have the same amount of merit as my speculation.
I once had a CBS Strat that was "Antigua" in colour. They didnt make many of them cause it wasn't a popular colour. I couldn't get on with it so i sold it for a silly cheap price to the late Roger Deans rythm guitarist. A couple of years later i saw the same model in my local guitar shop for about £2000. Apparently it is a rarity now. (Oh how i laughed)
And dont forget the "Newspaper" Strat that hank used on Cliffs " The Final Reunion shows.
Back in '79 my mate Paul's brand new Strat (he worked in the local guitar shop and got a healthy staff discount) looked like a grey mist burst. It didn't really become "Antigua" for a couple of years, as it went yellower and yellower. Over the next 30 odd years it has aged and now really looks rather good. It's still a creaky boat old anchor though.
I wish I'd kept mine now.
