The other day I ran across this little rascal:

Apparently it was a real limited run of only six guitars. Do you guys have any information on this Texascaster? Pickups, neck profile and radius?

Strat body and neck pickup combined with a Tele bridge and pickup. That looks like a winner to me, so I wonder why Fender has not gone any further with this concept?

Because it looks terrible? It looks like a guitar from one of their competitors, actually. Is that really a genuine Fender?

I would describe that as "an interesting idea, badly executed". Which is a shame. Whoever "designed" that scratchplate should be made to suffer..........

Diffrent strokes for different folks obviously. I think this axe looks quite sexy.

Indeed. I would expect it to sound good though.

How do I change the bit under my profile name? The bit where you have described yourself as a "Certified Curmudgeon"?

I'm tempted to describe myself as "Custom Shop Designed". :sneaky:

That’s the important part after all, isn’t it?
I’d play the hell outta that myself.

Yes it is. But does it have to be quite so ugly? For example, that weird little notch in the upper part of the scratchplate - why is that there? It looks horrible, like those Fret King things. If they had simply used a Strat type curve there instead it would have looked far more acceptable.

I'll second that one. The notch is strange. For me this guitar kind of looks like there was some family inbreeding going on, as such I would expect it to be extremely popular in rural West Virginia.

(Sorry W.V. peeps it was just a joke! It' a beautiful place really).

Also, if you don't like that one, perhaps this one which appears to be the illegitimate child is more your cup of tea.

Swap in a Stratotele guard and you’re good to go. It looks fine as it is IMHO though. YMMV. OMGWTFBBQ. CIA. AT&T. WTO. ETC.

Seems to me someone couldn't make up their mind. Might sound really nice though.

Yeah it just looks too ugly and Frankensteinish to sell enough units to make mass production profitable.
