Both my local GC stores had one, I played both. Nearly bought one, it's even prettier in person. I started a thread about it a while back.

I couldn't help but notice that the humbucker pictured on the Guitar Center site has the cream coil closer to the neck while the one @vid1900 got has it closer to the bridge...

...seems more balanced looking in the second picture to me. Not necessarily a deal breaker, but a little odd looking at the very least...

What's the deal with the top? Is it a veneer of real wood or is it fake foto nonsense?

    Interesting, I never even noticed!

In Mexico, if they could not be troubled with even roughly setting the intonation, or coating the entire pickup cavity with shielding paint; they certainly can't be bothered with putting the pickups in correctly, lol

    It's real Maple veneer.

I fixed a chip in the finish.

I was just going to say veneer as well, but then saw the above post...

Anyway, I'm not personally impressed with heavily figured tops so I wouldn't be interested in one myself...

I bought the aged cherry burst when it came out in 2013. Careful, that veneer is super thin, and doesn't take much of a ding to tear right through it. I frigged mine up after having owned it for less than 2 weeks, heartbreaker.

I have the black one. It’s pretty much the same guitar. It plays very good. I have no complaints on it.

Looks good. I have no experience, but I'd just go for it.

Trying to imagine what it'd look like with a white/parchment/aged pickguard that matched the controls...
