    Hi all,
Someone is selling a set of 57/62 in RO.
The person is not a guitar player and has the pups from another guitar he traded. So, this does not sound convincing but I tried to identify the pups and no success.

Let me know what you think.
    Thanks all,
    Dan

If those pickups were bought originally as aftermarket set, then possibly yes it could be 57/62 without reverse wound middle pickup.
    How much is he asking?

Hmmm, I asked him about the original owner but no clue...
It is 400 RON ~ 110 USD delivery included.

The base plate seems to be ok...but no paperwork or info...it is weird.

Show us a pic of the coils so we can see what colour the wire is. But the chamfered poles narrow it down quite a bit, meaning that if they are Fender pickups (and who knows since Fender can't be bothered to label any of their pickups....) they must be 57/62s or Fat 50s. And I think that most Fat 50s have Custom Shop stickers.

I thought 57/62s had yellow wire. Others will chime in soon. Don't take my word not too sure

Only the set in the Classic Player 60's and AV Hot Rod '62 has the RW/RP middle.

If you're uncertain which I understand fully, it's not easy sometimes to identify a pickup especially from Fender, I would advise you to look on eBay. Set price for these are around 90-100 USD New Condition and sometimes you can find them cheaper if you're on the lookout.

You can even put an ad on this site to see if anyone might want to part with their set. For me 110 USD for a set of used ones and the uncertainty about them makes me go elsewhere and buy cheaper with 100% confirmation.

But perhaps it's not as easy for you, where you live as to where I live. But there are options and I find it important that you're aware of those.

I guess I am going to pass on these and go the pure vintage '65 set. Ebay is accesibile in Romania but there is also the shipping.
These might the right pups but yeah. To few evidence.
    Thanks for the reply man!

Really? I thought that we had identified them? If you expect identification that's more definite than this, you need to stick to buying new, branded pickups.

Have to agree. Most correct knowledgeable answers are from the ST members.

Love those staggered poles but not for everybody.

Well, I could choose between these pups or a set of pure vintage 65. I tend towards the 65 but would like both.

Got also a confirmation from Fender, I quote:
    "Hi Dan,
These look legit. Cloth wire is usually not something people forge"

Now I need to decide if the 57/62 or pure vintage 65 suites blues / indie / soft rock better :).

So were they 65s or 57/62s ? Either way you can only decide, alot depends on your amp if you are looking for a specific tone .. in my opinion but what do I know

They are 57/62 , confirmed by Fender. I mentioned in a previous reply that I can choose between the 57/62 or a set of pure vintage 65.
    Amp is a blues junior.
Anyhow, might go with both and check them out than sell the set I don't like :p.

The picture is quite fuzzy, but it looks like an extreme amount of chamfer on the magnets. They're almost "pointed" instead of just chamfered. Whatever they are, I don't think they're made by Fender. My 57/62 pups have the normal Fender chamfer: just a 1/32" break to the edge.

Yes the bevel does seem a little extreme for a post '98 57/62 reissue strat pick up....

The AV65s have grey bobbins don't they?
