The episode is from last December but I just saw the rerun yesterday. Ton & Allen pay $475 for a room and find in it a '79 MIA Maui Blue strat plus a Fender Chorus amp. Norm (Norm's Guitars) checks out the paint with a black light and takes off the pickguard to authenticate it. Values it at $3500 and pays them $2200 (with the amp). Anyway, found the episode on line here:

Skip ahead to the strat segment at 11:08.

that guitar isn't from '79. the serial is S9, but those serials ran for several years. maui blue was part of the international colors that were introduced in '81.

$3500? For a 79? Huh. Business must be good in LA.
