Fabulous! We should all have yellow mouths as big as our heads.

We're watching the usual cycle of European Starlings, here in Western, NY. They're learning to feed themselves quicker than in the last few years. Cardinal parents don't give a damn, apparently, and the kids are entirely on their own. We're seeing young Red Bellied Woodpeckers fending for themselves.

The only "family values" birds, at the moment, are the Canada Geese. They have very structured mom/dad roles in child-rearing and watch over the kids until the kids are adult-sized kids. The parents get totally sick of the kids and just leave. The kids are gone by mid-July. The mallards go through the same cycle starting in July.

Aw. I used to feed birds I found like this slightly wet bread bits. They gobbled that down like hungry hippos.

Hope they all make it. :)
