A couple of things I can readily identify but this is about as well as I cam mix this. I would be interested in your thoughts. Do not be ugly about it as I cry easily. If it sounds like brutal mayhem, I am on the right track. Also, enjoy it if you can.

I dug tons of 90’s era punk and I still do. This reminds me of Face to Face or early Pennywise. And I dig this.

Well done and thanks for sharing Dado!!!

bearing in mind that don't nobody anywhere ask my opinion on recording and mixing, the drums seem a little low... the guitars sound good and your voice is clear.

Your asking cuz you want an opinion, right ?

    Here's mine..

I found that the vocals where too "dry". They seem to be too "close" when listening and sit on top of the tune rather than within it. I would of added some reverb (or some more) and tried to place them further back than they are at present. I think the drums suffered a little of this also. Like the guitars a lot though. :)

Thanks. Not shocked to hear and the part of mixing that I am not good at. Placing elements in the "space" is hard for me.

    @Dadocaster

It's hard to fairly judge a style of music I'm not into. I think you played it well. As far as the mix goes...I think @roger@pennyflic got it pretty well.
There is certainly nothing for me to throw stones at.

It needs more brutal and it needs more mayhem . . . .

You gotta learn to release your inner Yoko.

I like this, a tender and sensitive crooner..

    J/k

I'm no mixological anything but agree on the drums maybe needing oomph.. The vocals to my mind need the hoarse and coarse sound of denial and desperation. The I'm alright is almost too convincing whereas to me anyway, it should sound like a guy on his last nerve.

JMHO though and if it's not useful I'll give you a full refund, minus my restocking fee of course. :)

The drums need bringing up, they're getting lost. The vocal is a touch low and too dry.

Start with the kick. Make it thump. Compression and +2-3 dB boost on EQ @200 and 100 Hz.
Make the snare have some thwack. Compress and boost EQ +2dB at 350hz.
Now move to the bass. Make it sit just above the kick.
    Guitars sound fine.
Compress the snot out of the vox. Brickwall them.

Do you have an ADT plugin? If you don't, get one here. Use it on the vox in a separate track with no brick wall. This will give the track air (short delay) and a bit of wobble. It'll be different enough to both sit in and stand out of the backing. Its what I did on Clothes.

Send all the tracks to a buss with a room emulator on it. Vary the sends so that the drums sit towards the back, the guitars and bass sit in the middle, and the vox are out in front. Translated:
Drums wetter than guitars and bass, vox drier than both. On tracks like this, too much ambience on the vox will wash them out. Short delays to fatten....sure. Wet reverb? Naw.

Go listen to Raw Power. Then mix. ;)

one thing you can do with vocals for this type of music....
record another vocal track identical to the one already recorded (as identical as you can), then mix it in to where it gives the desired effect. the imperfections are what will make it sound cool.
    i liked it.

timing is rough. not entirely inappropriate given the genre, but still rough.

    vocals too dry and upfront.

    nice punky guitar tone.

Wow, thanks all. At work, will respond later.

About the guitars, which I like, it's Epi LP Jr in one ear, old Ibanez with blade bucker in the other using Mustang II and LDC. lol

Kelly's on the money with this one. Duplicating the vocals can really thicken things up when you are recording at home. Give that a try and find a reverb that that will allow them a bit of distance in the mix.
