they say what happens, in vegas,
stays in vegas.
but that aint true:
this was written as an actual recollection of my first trip to vegas.
i've posted it before,
you may have heard it..
but the story, and message, is still relevant!
I was in Vegas twice but I was only twelve at the time and this was back when all the signs were still lit by incandescent light bulbs. spent my time in the pool, quickly turned away when i wanted to look at the casino, second time went with my dad to pick up a 73' Dodge Coronet that belonged to his uncle that had died, I was lucky enough to get the Dodge when I turned 16 my mates nicknamed it the U-Boat. Always wanted to go back to Vegas as an adult but the desire has been waning with age
I currently call it home.
I've loved visits to N.Y. and Washington and have a long list of great US places to see in the near future. Vegas not on the list though.
vegas at 12,
and vegas at 50,
i imagine are some completely different experiences!!
Nice tune! I’m there right now, first time. Absurd place
last time in Vegas the ceiling over the bed in the hotel room appeared to have been repaired - it left me with the vague feeling of someone's having shotgunned his brains out in the room (bitter yuck,, in other words) not a huge fan of the city... but you should go look at Hoover Damn... a very impressive amount of concrete!
I've been almost all over, but I've never been to Vegas. In fact I've never ventured into Nevada. Been everywhere around it, hell, it borders Oregon...There was a time when I thought to visit because there were once a number of guitar collections amassed there that I know I'd enjoy seeing...but, nope, never been.
Viva lost wages!
Been a few times since my friend was a big gambler so we got free rooms, but I don't. I'd go to the Valley of Fire (north of Vegas) mostly. Awesome. And visit the nice dancing ladies in the evening. Dat's it.
appreciate the listen.
i've been there a couple of times since,
but didn't go near the strip..
hung out on the west side, hiking red rock canyon.
that's WAY cooler than the strip!
first time caller, 2nd time loser.
man, that place is a trip,
hold on to your wallet!
thanks for listening and commenting!
thanks for listening circles, glad you survived relatively unscathed!
crashbelt, montemerrick, rolandson -
thanks for sharing.
by the way, did you hear the song?!
"Strip is where you'll lose it all,
the flickers show you who to call,
then you'll have yourself a ball"....
little hispanic guys, that were paid to walk thru the crowds and hand out tittie bar cards, with the addresses and numbers required and of course, the requisite naked bosoms.
they'd walk right up to you and flick them right in your face, making a movement like 'take it! take it!'
i called them 'flickers'
What's left to do in Vegas after gambling & drinking?
I don't do either.
Oh! Watch others gamble & drink.
Sounds like loads of fun.
Tour the dam, hike the canyon and enjoy a couple shows
