I have a pair of GFS humbuckers in my Squier Bullet. Crunchy Rails in the bridge and power rails in the neck. Sounds amazing clean or distorted! One of my friends heard/played it for the first time today (through my pocket amp) and commented on how awesome the pups sounded.

I am putting together another partscaster (my Jimmy Herring tribute strat!) and just got two chrome-covered burstbuckers from Gibson. Just wired them in last night and they sound really good! Very impressed given some of the bad reviews I had read about them........they sound good to my ears.

A JB trembucker in the bridge with the a 59 in the neck is a great combo as well.
A JB with a SD Jazz works great too.
A lotta good names up here the X2N and Super Distortions are great pickups too.
Either one with a PAF in the neck will be great.

A trembucker is a bigger spacing that the poles will fit strings at the bridge better than a regular spaced humbucker.
You can get Dimarzio's with the bigger spacing as well.
You'll get a better, more even string to pu responce on all 6 strings when all 6 poles line up.

Big fan of the Semour Duncan hot rail (bridge pos) Got one in my strat and one in my tele. Also as posted earlier I have a 60's les paul pick up in my other strat but I am having some microphonic woes with it just now so might replace with a seymour duncan or dimarzio.

I home wind some of my favorites, but off-the-shelf?

I currently have one guitar with a SD Invader, one with a DiMarzio Super Distortion, and one with a SD Hot Rail (Bridge model, it makes a big difference).

The Invader is good and thick for classic rock type riffing (Zeppelin, AC/DC), the Super Distortion is good for modern metal stuff (useless for a clean tone unless you back off the volume knob a touch), and I use the Hot Rail for flexibility... with a coil split you can get a decent single coil sound out of it as well.

When it comes to store bought 'buckers, those are the three I swear by.

Oh... I also have a Gibson Explorer ('85 XPL... it's fun) with a set of Dirty Fingers in it.

The guitar sounds great for Judas Priest style squealing crunch, but I'm not sure how much of that is the guitar (wood and bridge) and how much is the pickups.

i put a set of bill lawrence in mine.

    sounds awesome.

the 500L in the bridge, is paired with a Q filter, which means i can variably change the inductance of the pickup, almost make it sound like an acoustic, all the way up to raging humbucker.
