I was sympathizing with Katana owners, and I was considering purchasing a Katana, though I am still on the fence. Furthure research is needed before I decide.

So go spew your self righteous protector of the weak BS elsewhere.

Oh, and welcome to my ignore list

Yeah as soon as I have a computer to hook the Katana up to I'm going to have a look at the sneaky amps with tone studio. I probably won't end up doing anything with them, because I can get what I want just by twiddling the knobs.

    Here
    Same here.

Out of the box I've been more than satisfied.

The hidden amps hack is cool but the one that may really get attention is the floorboard. I can see people liking them all up front like a regular board instead of having to swap pedals in and out.

As another pointed out all the software is loaded in the Kat. Tone Studio does nothing but switch the parameters. It doesn't load/unload anything.

Good to see a community actively involved in trying to make a great amp better.

Same here...................... I really like this amp and probably won't go down the 'rabbit hole' right now.

    #1 what is [sneaky amps]
#2. Just received an e:mail informing me that
my 100 watt head has shipped.
    Put a target on me.

I don't quite understand the vitriol surrounding this product.
    Oh well...
Perhaps my ubiquitous lack of understanding was the cause for all the times my mother slapped me.

    Better fire up the weedeater.
    Busy work...

#1 Amp models included in the DSP chip and exploited using MIDI sysex commands.
#2 Good news. Keep the bulletins coming. :)

Maybe Boss should include a target in the documentation provided with the amps. ;)

    Here
Downloaded the Sneaky Amps and Floorboard from above.

Wife is away for the week so only the dog will have to tolerate my noise experiments.

Screenshots from my laptop after install. Hook up the Kat later and see what happens.

    ***Update

Played with both the amps and floorboard for a quick half hour.

The amps were very easy to switch between and sounded great. This should satisfy the crowd that's used to picking a certain name like "Twin" on similiar amps as a starting point.

The floorboard worked for the most part. Not sure if I'm a fan vs. Tone Studio. Will revisit on a rainy night.

A few on other forums have mentioned that the Katana is getting a Boss GT-100 makeover with the downloads.

Not bad considering that it's a $499 floor multifx unit that can now be put in amp that starts at $199.

To recap IMHO the Sneaky Amps is easily worth the install.

    Wow, I've gotta ask - how's the JC-120 model?

I'd like an amp that can do super-clean; my sales resistance is weakening...

Didn't really spend enough time on any of the amp models to pass judgement. Gave each a few strums/licks to hear the tone differences on the default settings after loading the Sneaky Amps patch.

Maybe this weekend I'll dial in a few.

Have to imagine the JC can't be far off since it's Roland/Boss family.

I got my Katana 100w 1-12 in November and have barely turned it off. I've had plenty of tube and solid state amps over my 40 years of playing, and it's easily one of, if not the, most fun and satisfying rigs I've owned. I would say not to overthink it, just play it, tweak it, and enjoy...

Exciting news about the katana 'hack'. I imported the new list of amp models and tried each one briefly.
I dont think there is anything you couldnt dial in through 'normal use' but a fun list of patches all the same.

Do any of you 100W owners actually use the 100?
    And
What platform are you running the software on?

I don't have the 100, but the only time the 50 has been off 0.5w is when I went and sat in with my old band, then I turned it up to 25w and it happily kept up.

The software runs on Windows (7 and above) and Mac. Tone studio requires Adobe Air (spits) on Windows.

I agree from the factory is all most will ever need. The default tones are far better than others "presets". More organic, less processed.

The Sneaky Amps patch is nice to have but I'm more than happy the way it shipped. Guys on another forum wanted more options than its EL34 platform and much like the Blackstar ID series that allows tube sims it's now available.

At home the .5 watt setting is plenty loud for me. Clean or crunch 75% of the time with a Blues Driver, some verb and a touch of delay and I'm good for the night.

It's crazy how good much amps like these have evolved in the past few years. For the price its a no brainer for the home or gigging musician.

The default 'clean' is very good.
I'm a "bedroom" (music room) player and use the 0.5W setting.............. which is plenty freaking LOUD. I can only imagine how LOUD the 100W setting would be.

I'm running Tone Studio on a Mac.

I am thrilled with the factory settings on my 50 .
For me to over engineer simple is counterproductive .
