Yes they would play anywhere and everywhere... Darby Mills at the time was one of the hardest working musicians that i can remember....

They played at a little dive in a little town just outside of Vancouver [Port Moody] Friday Nite Saturday Nite and a Sunday Jam...
I lived across the street from the Bar...This was the early 80's just before their first album.....Another reason why i play a Strat!!!!

I've seen both Platinum Blonde and the Killer Dwarfs live. Killer Dwarfs with Skid Row and Pantera! Back when my hair was business in the front and part in the back! My wife was a huge PB fan back in the day. Me not so much!

Think I saw PB at the Knob Hill Hotel in Scarbourough before they made it big. Lots of bands to be played there and some famous ones too.
Saw Killer dwarfs open for Ymgwie and Dio In Toronto early 90s. Great band!

Hers another one - Pursuit of happiness - " Im an adult now" a big hit.

By the way, the Suhr Custom YouTube channel is an absolute treasure trove of Ian Thornley licks and pieces.
Here is one of my faves:

some one mentioned GODDO already they were a fun band. Max Webster had some good tunes (Battle Scar ) one of my favs that hasn't been mentioned yet is FRANK SODA AND THE IMPS. Live At The Tube is crankin guitar filled album that is worth checking out for sure. also have to mention Canada's premier metal band PILEDRIVER. Metal Inquisition is an awesome song and album.

I was going ro mention Frank Soda but forgot. They Were mad on stage with quite the show.
Max Webster had a slew of great songs and hits long before Battlescar which was on there last album. As a bonus Geddy Lee of Rush guested on it.

I would say the premier Canadian Metal band was Anvil.:):):):)
With Your in depth knowledge of Canadian music you are either a musicoligist or a Canuck.....;)

I would say Rik Emmett is the best guitarist to ever come from Canada overall, but my heart will always belong to Jeff Healey and Colin James, the only true sons of SRV. Philip Sayce is similarly a son of Jeff Healey. Randy Bachman did some nice stuff, and the ULTIMATE Tele player (right behind Albert Lee) is Steve Pitticco. THAT guy is a beast!!!! Colin Linden is a good slide player.... lots of talent up there! Must be the Tim Hortons!

not Canadian but live in Upstate NY so many Canadian acts played here in the 70s and 80s. i love Anvil but when it comes to metal Piledriver can't be beat. i mean c'mon with songs like Aliens Raped The World and Metal Inquisition that's tough to top :p. i'll also mention The Hunt as a decent band that really didn't break out but were good. h and it's rumored that Frank Soda played on the first Piledriver album which is another plus.
