OK, playing in time signature other than 4/4 and 3/4 can seem a little daunting at first, but this track has got a great feel, so I'm sure we'll have fun with it.

Also, check out the subtle spelling mistake in the picture I posted. :sneaky:

    Cool track!

I had a couple of attempts during some free time this morning.

I like the feel of this 5/4, feels like a 6/8 without the 6 :D

Got a bit repetitive with some of the resolutions from the CM7, need to think about that a bit.

@alainvey – Excellent work! Choosing a favourite take from you is a bit like trying to decide which is the best in a box of particularly fine chocolates. The first take had the more memorable opening phrases, but the second take stretched out a little more, with some very clever and inventive lines.

I shall share the depths of my own inadequacies in due course. :sneaky:

@Omar – Well spotted. I imagine the furniture of law enforcement is a large baton...

@Raimonds – There are some really nice tunes at the start of your take, which is a harder achievement than I've made it sound. Although there are only four chords, it's not the sort of sequence you can noodle over using one scale. The last minute of your take I thought sounded very confident and fluid.

@mjark – I get the impression that I think your take is better than you do. There are long sections of this that really float along - very nice indeed. I'm still sitting here at the "oh crap, that doesn't work either" stage, so I'm hardly going to slate you for the occasional note that may not sit exactly as you intended.

Here's some old tosh from me. I need to finish cooking dinner, watch TV with the missus etc, so I'll be back in a few hours.

Sounds cool to me...I'd not have a clue where to start :). Nice jazzy tone.

The "TV with the missus" part made me laugh...glad to know I'm not the only one that does that. Not good to be running off into the music room immediately every night :).

Two tracks on this take, both were one-and-done and then assembled.

@knh555 – I can tell you are not at all intimidated by the time signature. Once this take gets into its stride, it's really very good – a complex interplay between two parts that conspire to create a cohesive whole from what are sometimes slightly anarchic ideas. I listened to it twice, and there's some interesting ideas in there.

@BallisticSquid – If you play the chord changes as written out at the start of the video, it may give you a greater confidence in how to approach this track.

Yes, I should have mentioned your chord part, which was very nicely done.

I suspect I'm not the only one here who'd love to have as little idea of what to do as you demonstrated here. It just shows that you can hold a tune together no matter what. Nice!
