    Thanks Simon.

That guitar has monster sustain. It is one of the rare ones that makes you go WOW! the first time you play it. It is a lot more versatile than you would think for having only one pickup. I can get anywhere from clean country twang, to thick dark tones with that thing.

There are guitars, there are good guitars, and occasionally (if you're lucky) you run across a guitar that has the "it" factor. I have 3 guitars with the "it" factor. This Esquire is one of them. Strangely none of my 3 Strats (while they are nice guitars) have the "it" factor.

Of course the "it" factor is probably different for everyone.

I had a MIM Jazz Bass like that. It was really resonant and responsive, as if it had been played for 40 years.

I guess responsive is a good way to put it. When the guitar just seems to be alive under your fingers.

Wow, what a wonderful comment! Thank you so much Simon. That made me so happy :D

Well, I’m Palestinian; I was born in Saudi Arabia. I lived in and visited many Arab countries. I was exposed to different middle eastern cultures.

    I hope so too :thumb:

Omar and I talk away from the boards a lot about playing: choices, practice etc. This was directly related to those talks about thematic development and phrasing.

It's kind of a PITA, as I have to set everything up to record, but if he asks and it's relevant to our discussions, I'll hit it. :)

This made me think (that doesnt happen often :) and play one more time, tried to make some kind of theme or melody, but the backing is so slow, I always ended up waiting for chord change :D

I sped it up about 15% in Logic. It kind of plods along otherwise. :)

@Raimonds – This is one of the 'grand themes' I always used to associate with you until you got too busy to spend a lot of time here. It's full of drama and tension, as well as excellent guitar playing. It's also very nicely produced, which is another one of your considerable skills. I hope your new band is going to get the attention it deserves. :thumb:

I was going to hit the 'Like' button, but actually, I'm sad. The great @fezz parka has to "set everything up to record"? I'm sorry to hear that. Maybe you're packing things away for a house move, but music is such a massive part of who you are, I find it hard to imagine you'll ever stop making music. Your mentoring of Omar is a great thing, but I hope you'll continue to play guitar and share with the world.

Thank you Simon. Career wise, I'm retired. :)
Oh I play. I just got a 1984 Ovation Custom Balladeer. It was in a storage unit I bought for five bucks. But out here at my little ranchito, I'm off grid. Solar power. I use my phone for internet stuff, so the computer is in the closet. I play for the coyotes. LOL

Well, let's see how it goes.

For instance, I just got home from playing my first gig in months, just got home....full on acoustic, no amps, Gypsy jazz.

Now you know what the hard picks are for.

I almost did a take of the last track, but this seemed more easy to make happen. Besides, the nai and classical guitar were both out in the studio right by the computer and mics.
All the electrics are stored in the closets.

Second take. I tried to make it sound like Oud. I hope you like it :)

That is pretty cool Omar. Your guitar sounds great and your playing works well here. Has a James Bond soundtrack feel to it. Cool!

It’s one of my favorite classic songs. One day, I want to play the intro on guitar. I got the music sheet but I can understand nothing :D
