I need headphones for Boyo to use while tracking drums. Typically, he is going to be listening to a rough/scratch version of a song and most of the time, the songs require heavy hitting. The headphones we have now sound OK but let in way too much of his drum kit.

Super accuracy is not necessary, just need good earcups and padding.

    Suggestions?

Ear Buds with the smallest size rubber cushions so you can insert them and seal them off. $8 JVC or other brands work fine and have better frequency response than even the best speakers - just not very flat. If you need more isolation, pick up some of the cheap 20dB hearing protection muffs you use for shooting or high noise areas at work and wear them oveer your ears while using the buds.

Got him the Vic Firth mentioned above. Worked well.

I wear Skullcandy Hesh 2 wired when I'm playing drums, and the isolation is fantastic.
