Yes indeed. I try to be absolutely rational about this. In the days when my hearing was a little better, I could tell the difference between two otherwise identical Strat-type guitars, if the neck was swapped between a rosewood board and maple, or if the body wood was changed. But the thing is, those differences were tiny!

@Ronkirn has said this enough times, but the performance differences are so insignificant compared to the variables in room acoustics, amp settings... whatever.

Personally, I like to play an electric guitar that is quite loud acoustically. I like to hear the instrument itself 'ring'. Especially on bass guitar, I prefer a bit of 'bounce' in the strings, such as you might get from an acoustic instrument.

However, I accept that these are my preferences, and there is a limit to how much of that translates to the listener.

Tele'd be easies since there aren't contours.

I'm just saying that I could sharpen all the tensions and play some pretty colorful chords. I also think it could get a really nice lead tone.

Also, it took me a bit to realize that was a pun. :D

Not speaking of the crash, but I found that very entertaining. We need that sporting event in the US.

Here in St.Paul they've held a "Crashed Ice" event ever year for the last decade or so. For some reason though they didn't this year, but it's popular obviously.

Kind of like Roller derby.. On ice.... On a hill. :)

Perhaps they skipped it this year because the leading competitors last year were all killed or maimed?
