Did these come from the factory together?

Idle curiosity here. Did this neck and body leave the Fender factory together? Neck is stamped "61 Strat" but is also marked CC in pen. Body is imprinted "60 CC". It was sold to me as a "closet classic" model. I don't really care, I love the guitar, just wondering if this is the original setup, or if it's even possible to be sure.

It's impossible to say from the information you've given, do you have reaon to think it's not original? As a last resort, you could always ask Fender.

I cant see why "from the factory" there would be a neck shim.

FWIW my 60 Relic has a "61 Strat" neck as well - it seems to be pretty common and probably has to do w/ the neck profile ordered. It's a think neck?

    Right. That's a StewMac shim.

Thanks for the comments. I have no reason to suspect anything, but was surprised to see one part labeled 60 and one part labeled 61. Sounds like maybe they mix and match a bit in the custom shop, not quite the image that they probably want to project but I have no illusions that a guitar like this got a lot of special attention... or maybe some previous owner mixed and matched and added the shim at the same time. The shim seems like a nice piece of manufacturing, paper thin at one end and only slightly thicker at the other, not that easy to do with wood.

When and if shimming is required, that's just about the best and most proper way to do it! More pics and of the whole guitar would be nice, as we all love guitar porn! :D

7.25 neck, not quite as thick as I wish, but better for me than the American Standard shape. Nitro looks wayyyy better to me than poly. The Lollar Blackface pickups are probably the best thing about this guitar--it sounds far better than the AS it replaced, very sweet, lots of bite, very musical.

Funny that you find the best thing about a Fender Custom Shop Strat is the unoriginal Lollar pick ups!:thumb:

Well, it came with the CS pickups too and who knows, maybe I could put those back in and it would be even better?

I would consider this a normal occurrence.
I've seen multiple examples of just such 'mix-n-match' body/neck combinations in the Relic series from the Custom Shop.

Mine and other examples of the 61 neck I've seen have been thin.

My neck thinks it's thin, but it's not...
