That a made in Mexico is also a made in America, but a made in America is not necessarily a made in Mexico.

People make such a distinction and pay good money for it too, yet the distinction is significantly incorrect. I guess if vibrato can be made into tremolo, who cares?

Welcome to the world of semantics as it applies to marketing.... it's what Advertising and Promotion is all about...

There are now some States that are enacting legislation to stipulate that if your product is promoted as, "Made in the USA".. every bit of it must be.... as a result you are seeing a lot of companies discontinue making the claim..

For instance.. Pickups...it is so absurd that you must know where the copper ore was mined that was made into the wire, and where that was, done, where the chemistry that makes up the resins in the forbon bobbins, and where the fibers used to make the bobbins originated... How "bout any Plastic parts, Plastic is a "soup" of chemistry, where did each chemical come from?

Don't ya just love the gubmint... while personally I think something made in the US should be made in the US... often products are composites of parts made of materials that simply aren't available in the US... should there be exceptions..and if so, to what extent..

No chromium is mined in the US, so If your Winchester has a Chrome plated chamber, a manufacturing technique to improve abrasion resistance as the shell is loaded and ejected, ya cannot say, My Winchester is Made in the USA.. depending on the State's laws..

If your Fender has Ping Keys... sorry 'bout that ... or the excellent Schaller Keys . too bad.... Or Klusons, way too bad...

we are gradually evolving to a time where a label must say, "Manufactured in the United Federation of Planets."

    Live long and prosper... :p

In the UK you can import bacon from Argentina and, providing you you something to it, e.g., slice it and package it in the UK, you can put Union Jack sticker on it with a 'Made In Britain' banner.
That's obviously daft, but at what point is a Strat actually 'made'? When the neck meets the body, the strings go on and it becomes platable/
