If you’ve seen me post, you know I’m GAS’ing for a new amp. I love my Deluxe Reverb and love the tone I get from it and if I get a new amp, I’d love to explore running two different amps at the same time.

I know tons of pros do this, but for bedroom, jamming or occasional gig use, does anyone here run two amps in tandem?

I have not done it, but the guys on that pedal show do and talk about it a lot. On their last episode they said two interesting things- 1) you get the positive benefits of running two amps even if you're running them at relatively low volumes, and 2) when picking a second amp to run with the one you already have, almost anything will work, don't think too hard about what to pair with what.

I'm looking forward to giving this a try myself. Not in stereo but as wet/dry.

Running one heavy on Reverb and the other without? I know some people run them in stereo and some amp combos are obviously going to be dry if it doesn’t have Reverb on it.

I’m excited to see how this plays out. I’m going to check out that clip. :)

ive done it a few times with the ac30 and the ac4.
ill run two cords out of the reverb pedal...one into the 30, and the other into the 4.
ill get the volume where i want it on the small amp, then dial in the volume on the larger amp until i think it sounds right.
its pretty cool and i like it.

Are you overdriving the smaller amp and keeping the 30 clean?

Eddie Van Halen uses a dry signal for half of his amps, and a wet signal for the other half. It results in a really clear tone while live. BB King has also been known to have one amp for bass, and another for treble, so he gets the “best of both worlds”

Is that a Deluxe and a Vibroverb?

no, i set them both to where it can be crunchy with guitar volume on 10 but still cleans up well dialing the volume down a bit, and when i hit the OD pedal all hell breaks loose.

I bet that’s rad man. The Vox amps sound great and they look cool too.

I’ve run two amps before using a stereo effect to split the signal. It’s fun, sounds a lot “bigger” even at low volume.

5e3 and Vibrolux Reverb. I'd also use a Super Reverb and Tweed Bassman for bigger rooms.

Can you elaborate on how you used a stereo effect to split the signal?

I'd often use my Deluxe and Super Reverb's together... the Deluxe for an edge and the Super clean-er. I'd use a Morely ABY and a couple of home made isolation transformers (to eliminate hum because they'd always be powered from the same source), but just as often they'd be going at the same time.

I bet that sounded so cool. I was honking of pairing a Tweed Deluxe with my Deluxe Reverb and see how that goes.

    It does indeed...:thumb:

Then there was a time not long ago where the neighbor's house was on the market...
A couple showed up to view it that gave off some serious negative vibes. I fired up all three of my amps at maximum with a window open (the Super, Deluxe, and a 200 watt SS thing that runs through a modeling preamp) and my guitar just a little out of tune. 10 minutes of poorly played GLORIA and I never saw them again. The family that eventually bought the house is very pleasant; quiet with a really smart kid who builds robots.

I run a Blues Jr (NOS Tweed) and a 68 Custom Princeton Reverb in tandem with an A/B/Y pedal.
The combination sounds huge for 2-12/15 watt amps. I haven't tried it via a stereo out on my
    Neo Ventilator pedal yet.
