Just found out EJ will be at the Crest Theater in Sacramento this month.

Never been a huge fan but maybe seeing him live would change that. Id be taking my 17 year old so, who has just started playing.

    Should we go? :)

Absolutely you have to go if you play guitar or love the guitar. You are in for a double treat this tour. Eric has put the original Ah Via Musicom band back together for this tour. It's going to be epic. Eric Johnson is just a phenomenal player and you will see a bunch of chords you didn't know existed. And at 65 he is just as fast and amazing as he was at 20. And the TONE!!!! His live tone is to die for.

He's playing here in February for the third time in about a year. His acoustic guitar/piano show was amazing also..

I don't typically pipe up in the "go to see" threads but I would strongly urge you to see him. He is a much more elemental force live than can be conveyed on recordings and Youtube.

I saw him in a small venue and I was mesmerized, he is a phenomenal player. His live music that is more than alive.

When the show let out, the only thing you could hear were people talking about how amazed they were.

You and your son will remember it. That's where the gold is. :)

I’m right there with ya. There are plenty of great players that I’m not a huge fan of either. Plus I’m an Overtime hog and I like to save my money. But sometimes, regardless if I’m not a fan or if I just hate crowds in general...there are certain things that the guitar player in me needs to witness in person before the opportunities are over. And I think this is one of those occasions. I’ve never seen him either. He’s coming here in March and I bought two tickets. I’m looking forward to the experience. I think there will be a lot to absorb from him.

If you decide to go, I hope you guys have a memorable time. And if your son is still pursuing an interest in Linework, I wish him all the best.

    If you do go.

You will be really glad you did.

As soon as the lights go down it's a Melodic Odyssey from start to finish.

A true Master Musician, and as great as he ever was.

    Go, for sure.

    Got tix.

I hope my kid likes it.

Last concert we went to was Tom Petty. His favorite band is Eagles.

This may go over his head.

    We'll see.
