ok i want one what is a fair used price and any years that are better than others?
Difficult to say. Google is your best friend....
I just wish one of you tropical turquoise owners would slap a tortoise shell pickguard on it. I think it would look fantastic. And it'll tell me if that's the color scheme I want too
Proud owner of a 2016 EJ rosewood model.
Entering the club with a 07' 2tone sun burst bone stock the way I love em. Weighing 7 lbs even. I will never part with her
I like the bound rosewood necks on the EJ strats...Are the EJ strats the only model that has the bound necks?...thanks...
There was a "channel bound" model that Fender released a couple years ago, but as far as current production I think the EJ is the only one...
Bumping this so I can claim my membership in the club. Relatively new acquisition for me, but I've been playing strats for 25 years. My first guitar was a MIM rosewood board oly white strat.
I've owned (and still own) a fair number of very nice guitars, but I've wanted an EJ for as long as they've been in production. I was sitting in a great used/vintage guitar shop that I frequent and there it was in all of its Dakota Red glory. The shop said it's a 2012 and they're reputable enough for me to trust them on that.
I was actually considering a '57 AV Hot Rod at the time and as nice as it played, I'm really glad I saw the EJ out of the corner of my eye. It was the bound fretboard that made me do a double take.
Anyone know when they discontinued the Dakota Red?
My 2016 or 17 Tropical Turquoise.
Wow I cant believe I am following my own post in this thread. Figured more owners would have added theirs. Here is my new Thinline 2 tone sunburst. Pic with the RW model as well as the HQ ones Sweetwater sent before shipping it.
Ok here is my 2 tone, switched the pickguard, knobs, and pickup covers to match the white of the binding of the rosewood neck. I love it.
I joined the club last Thursday. I love this thing! Great guitar. I’ve been reading about them for a while and finally I realized this was the guitar I was GASing for. Coincidentally, at about the time I had this realization, one came up on Craigslist so I jumped on it.
As you can see, mine has been modified so that the truss rod can be adjusted without removing the neck. It was done well so it doesn’t bother me at all. Aside from that, it is stock. It sounds phenomenal, it plays phenomenally. Man, I dig those short, fat frets and the low action. I can play faster and more accurately than I can on my other guitars. It may have ruined me for other Strats.
Here are some flame photos. It looks even more dramatic in person.
