@Pulsar and you are both right. Rosewood EJ's have the pickguard notched at the bottom. Here is mine. Maple do not.

thank you for the explanation on the notches I would say it makes sense, to only notch the r/w neck but only fender knows and so far they aint weighing in on this so I vote to go with the flow.
I am going to the pawn shop friday and give them what proof i've found as to why this guitar is not an EJ strat or for that matter a fender made strat, and explain what a partscaster is... and maybe make them an offer on it, it plays really good and feels good but it is what it is. With a little work, time and money it could be made into a player that you wouldn't have to worry about accidentally knocking it around and getting its first booboo

I would get a real EJ used or new. The neck is what really makes that guitar sooooo special. EJ Full.jpg

Edit: if you do get a chance, I'd love to see detailed pictures under the hood.

    DO NOT buy this guitar.

I own an EJ strat and I know a good one when I see one.

You should try to find an EJ in as good condition as you can. Close to mint if possible, as mine was. There should be no scratches, there should be no STRING TREES, and it shouldn't cost you more than 1400$. If you buy this guitar, you will be getting ripped off.

Unless you haggle the guy down to around 400$. If you spend more than 475$ on this guitar, you're getting ripped off for sure.

Even $400 is way too much.

Since it's certainly NOT an EJ neck, then all you've got is a poor condition guitar that might not even be a genuine Fender.

Brand new, genuine Fender USA Strats are sometimes on sale for $629, why would anyone pay $400 for that bucket of problems?

    You never know.

I once saw a video of him getting a birthday cake from his **girlfriend** and he barely kisses her on the cheek....

That is neither here or there. In fact it belongs no where.
