Ha! They'll be doing that. They are playing the whole Wishbone Ash album live (along with other greatest hits). Last year it was Argus, and next year is New England (my favourite).

I’ll see what I can do.
I’m supposed to learn Hotel Cal for my band but haven’t started yet. Perhaps this will the nudge I need...
And thanks for letting me use your bass!

I'm nominating @nungesser for some slide. He has to earn his free beer!

Would you like to add Blind Eye to the set list? It's another classic dual lead guitar number. I worked out how to play both parts on one guitar, but it sounds better on two!

@alainvey - I'm nominating you Jam Master, after your earlier comment. Perhaps you'd like to come up with a few "pure jams" to intersperse between songs? Don't make em too complex!

You're welcome. There are plenty of good Hotel California bass tutorials on YouTube. Just don't make the mistake I made and learn it in the key it's in on the album, not the key marked on the sheet! So @Siegfried91 and Math are a definite? Fantastic!

Sounds scary (to me) and fun. This is why we need lots of amps...so everyone can join in

No more than three compound time signatures and no more than two tonal centres within any 8-bar section, I'd say. :whistling: Otherwise, it'll sound like a bunch of rock guys doing their best to improvise to an unexpected break-dancing incident at a Stockhausen concert. :D Actually, maybe I'm onto something there...

@simoncroft - just heard Martin Turner’s playing Worthing Pier tomorrow night, in case you fancy it.

And I have no idea what your last post was about!

Oh yeah, I think he's playing the cafe at the end of the pier. Thanks for the reminder. :thumb:

A 'compound signature' is one where the number of beats per bar is an odd, not even, number higher than 3. Hence 5/4, 7/8 and 11/8 are compound time signatures. (3/4 is otherwise known as 'waltz time' and doesn't come into it.)

Where you have quite complicated chord changes, you'll sometimes find that you can only successfully solo over the top by using more than one key or 'tonal centre'. It happens in Steely Dan's music a fair bit. You play in one key for a few bars, then – whoops – you're in a different one.

I was just joshing with Sam that maybe his idea of 'simple' was someone else's idea of 'jolly complicated'. :)

I have started to listen some songs with Mathieu. It is easier for him to say "Ok" or not. But I need more time to put my name on some songs that I don't know because I am not able to evaluate the difficultie to play them.
I am going to ask him if he want add songs too.
We are really exited to come again and espacially me because Mathieu seems really happy to play with you.

@Siegfried91 - it will be great to have you and Mathieu there. Don’t worry too much about the songs - just join in with anything you feel like - nobody cares about the mistakes.

It’s just that damn video that makes it embarrassing...
