Thanks! I'm with u on that, love those headstocks.

Gunslinger is a recent term. This guitar is from the 80's. They had two lines in those days (like MIM vs MIA), the original ST III (mine) and the NJ series. If u shop for one, I'd try to get an ST III, it was their best at the time.

Series 10 body/neck---MIM Fender loaded pickguard and bridge, chinese tuners and jackplate, neutrik jack. The guitar was free, and I had everything else on the shelf. I had to buy a nut (GraphTek), and some pickguard screws---total out of pocket including strings---$20! Total cost of everything under $50! Best playing (and cheapest) guitar in my collection!![IMG]

I will always prefer my partscaster builds because I can decide what body/neck woods, pickups and hardware that will go on my guitar and what tones it will produce.

Sammick. Not really fair, since they made the MIJ strats for Fender at the time. Here's one with a Fender S series headstock neck on it.

When I bought it, it had a pointy Sammick style headstock which I didn't care for. The pickups were potted, and sounded pretty darn good, but the white PG didn't really match with the black HS.

I'd never heard that either. I came looking for a thread like this because I also like the older, unusual Samick Strats. Came across this on the Cincinnati CL today. It's an ugly color but I kinda like it. If it was closer I'd grab it.

I like that colour. Is it metallic?

It's been a while since I've checked in here! I feel very excited & wanted to say that I put a down payment to Ron Kirn yesterday for my 1st non-Fender Strat! At this point I believe mine is the BEST! LOL! Seriously though, Ron was very easy to talk to & informative w/o cramming it down your throat! I'm sure there's a better blog on this site to make my big announcement, plus Ron's to send up date pics during the build process that I'm thinking of sharing? Thanks for letting me share my excitement & if there's another/better blog on S/T to pass my excitement on then please advise! Thanks Again, carry on & have a great week!

I have a Burns Marquee Club Pro, and I'm a big fan of the Burns Tri-Sonic pickups. To my ear, they've very different to the Strat pickups though. About six years ago a posted a video on modding the guitar to get more tones. Although I love the glassy sounds, I feel they are something all of their own:

I'd say you're probably in the right place on this forum, and I look forward to seeing pictures. That's a kinda scary avatar though. :D

It’s actually a pic of me! I’m a fan of The Walking Dead & they had an App that you could take your own pic & mod it! Wha-la!

Have to cast my vote for the early '90's to early '00's Yamaha Pacificas made in Taiwan. Especially love the maple fingerboards. I have about a dozen different versions. Sorry no pics ATM. Still at work.
