    Hi,

I'm looking to purchase another guitar around the €500 euro mark. Considering a Gibson lp special, sigma acoustic and a few others. One of the ones I'm interested in is a fender 'lead' for sale localish.

I've done a bit of research and found out that 3 models were produced...2 single coil version, humbucker version and dual humbucker version. Can't find any information about a x3 single coil version.

So any idea what this is? Any good? How much is it worth?

    Thanks in advance.

I’d never heard of one until your post.

I had never heard of one either until I saw this one. It's advertised as as strat. Thing is the wiki page has no mention of a version with 3 single coil pickups and I can't find a similar one for sale anywhere!

I love Sigma acoustics. I have 3. One 12 strings and the other two 6 strings. They are pretty good guitars.

Yeah I've tried a few new ones and they were very nice indeed. There's a 'vintage' Sigma SDR-28H in excellent condition 10 minutes away that's seriously tempting. Not a mark on it and a decent price.

I suspect that the guitar has been modded into a 3-pickup configuration. Take off the pickguard and take a look at the body routing to see if the middle pickup route shows signs of being "after-market" . If you can't do that, then just take it for what its worth that is probably isn't original. Wouldn't bother me, if the price was right.

It's not a Fender Lead III. The body isn't the Lead shape. It's a Lead III neck on some kind of import "Strat" body, pickguard, electronics, etc.

IMO the necks are nothing special and the rest of the guitar is a mystery. I'd say it's a 75 Euro guitar. 500 Euro can be spent on much, much better guitars.

That looks like a Squier bullet body with a lead neck.

    Here’s a bullet I had recently

That body is identical apart from the bridge. I'm now wondering if the neck is even genuine as I found lead III decals for sale just there.

The seller just got back to me and said she doesn't know anything about the guitar. Hard pass it is

I wonder if the trem is just floating super high, and it has a wierd angle. The longer I look the more I don’t know. The neck looks legit to me though.

It's a hardtail with 6 screws and different saddles. I've seen the same bridge on some 80's strat if I remember correctly.

The neck looks like a Lead neck, but the body is definitely not from a Lead.

The Lead neck has a pretty narrow nut width. Too narrow for my comfort. Surely very good for people with normal fingers and a style where a narrow nut works.

It's a Lead III neck on a mij bullet strat body I'm sure of it now. I wouldn't mind having the neck for a project I'm working on but €500 seems a lot and I'd have no use for the rest of it.

From what I see more locally, €500 for a Lead in good order would be a good price. But this is a partscaster with a Lead neck.

(I'm certainly not against partscasters but this particular one would not appeal to me)

Agree with everyone - Lead III neck on a different body.

I'd think that given the information you have it would be an easy pass.......

Yeah it was an easy pass in the end after figuring out what it is. Offered €150 but no luck. Oh well.

At least you didn't pay 500 for it.
That fits nicely into the good thing category...
