Stupid question, but are they the same (only difference being the colour)?

I noticed that black ones are made in Taiwan. Are the chrome ones made in Taiwan as well?

We would need links to know which ones you mean...there are so many made by so many different manufacturers....

Is this on the Fender website or somewhere else?

"Fender" brand on ebay. Not Sperzel, Planet Waves, or other after-market brands.

I do actually - sister-in-law. Though I'd have to wait until chistmas when they come home. Was hoping to get them sooner.
    What website?

If you want chrome, MusiciansFriend has them for $47 US and change.....free shipping....

Their price on the black is ridiculous though - over $100 US - probably because they don't move a lot of them....

It should be a drop in replacement for an American Standard or Special, possibly even MIM Standard too....

Good deal, thanks. The local store has the chromes ones for a wee bit more $$. I was going to go for black, but not if its over double.

Yeah, she's a MIM standard, and I like the idea of just dropping them in.

Just to add - locking tuners help with quick string changes and make stretching out strings when you put on new ones take a little less time....they don't fix tuning issues if that's what you're after....you probably know but I'm just mentioning it.....

Tuning issues are usually nut slot issues....

    Gotcha. Thanks for that.

Yeah, I've had no issues with the stock fender tuners on it. I do like the idea of quicker, easier string changes. And I've made some other upgrades, and this seems to the next best upgrade.
