    Guinness draught = cold.

Guinness stout or extra stout = room temp.

Somewhat in between. Not ice cold, but not room-temperature warm either.

I can drink Guinness when from a tap. :)

However, I don’t like the canned version at all.

Breakfast Stout! Stouts in general are lowish in alcohol, so good choice. Unfortunately, I don't enjoy early day alcohol much any more, but I do like a good stout after dinner!

A thread about Guinness has gone 17 minutes without @Thrup'ny Bit joining in? What's this world coming to?

Yep, a nice dark stout makes a great breakfast beer, and an excellent coffee chaser.;)

I treat the import bottled or canned stuff a bit different than tap/fresh. Fridge temperature is probably best for either. There's something sharp and very mildly unpleasant that the cold masks.

I recall being in Ireland when they had special "extra cold" taps for Guinness with these refrigerated contraptions to serve it super cold. Not sure how long that lasted, but I wasn't a fan.

Too busy drinking it and pratting about with your backing track to be typing... :whistling: So what's happening chaps?

Bottled Guinness larder cold. Fridge for ten minutes before opening maybe. Widget cans fridge for half an hour before opening..

To placate tourists and softies that prefer not to taste what they're necking...

There are still extra cold taps, and they pour quicker but I think they are mostly marketing bull because the difference is about 2 centigrade, and much less than that after the pint has stood to settle.

My room temp is a bit warm, which is why I keep it in an unheated room, the larder, on a 2 1/2" thick marble cold shelf.

This house is Victorian, they didn't have fridges back then, but one cellar was built as a cold room, another was the kitchen...
