    Plays like butter.

What the heck does that mean? Have you ever tried to play butter? It sounds terrible, then it melts and makes an awful mess.

    Fastest neck.

My guitar neck is stationary. Where the hell is yours going and why is it going so fast.

Yeah, when I order a steak rare, I usually get it medium, too.
I prefer my guitars to spend the shortest time possible on the grill as well.

Referring to tone, I actually like smooth, creamy, buttery and icepicky. But what the hell is bouncy tone?

And I never understood why a Strat could be described as sounding bell-like. No Strat ever sounded like a bell. I don't even think there's a pedal for that.

Synth. I don't think it would be very pleasant though like a simulated violin or horn is.

    Edit: actually this is great.

    What about a ring modulator?

That one gets me too though. But Johnny B. Good could play the guitar just like ringin' a bell.

Well, I stand corrected: you can make your Strat sound like a bell.:D
But somehow, I still don't think it's adequate to describe the unprocessed sound of a vintage specced Strat and/ or Goode's playing as bell-like.
Also, someone once described the sound of a pickup as having 'all the chime and sparkle that Strat players have enjoyed for [I don't remember how long]'. Sparkle, maybe. But chime? Hell, that ain't even only one bell anymore.
    But I dye grass...

Seriously, I never understood "bell like tone". I have never heard a guitar that sounds like a bell, or a bell that sounds like a guitar, and I have heard many bells and guitars in my lifetime, so I get what you're saying.

I just remembered something else: is there even a difference between snap and spank?

There was a thread once asking what happens to the sh*tty guitars.
Seriously, 'selling this pristine XYZ to finance somethingorother', 'I have two but this is the better one', 'best I've played, don't want to sell but have to'... when will someone say 'I want to sell this guitar 'cause I don't like it!'?

"Lawsuit era" the most abused, misused and misunderstood phrase in the world of guitars.

"Great beginners guitar" No it's not, it's cheap and poorly set up. It could be great but it requires someone who knows what they're doing.

This was the first thing I was going to say. Where on earth did this absurd term come from? And how can we get it to go back there?!

It's sometimes even worse, when people change it to "plays like buttah". What?

I have to disagree with you there. Long before the interweb was invented, when I was in my early teens, I got this track on his second album, & I remember a couple of friends asking how he managed to get such a bell like sound from his guitar.

And, with reference to Chuck on JBG, if Chuck said his guitar sounded like "ringing a bell", that's good e nuff for me.

Sounds like somethings broken on GT's guitar. Seriously, sounds like somethings rattling, and sounds like a banjo in some places. It has a certain raw, crude sound that's really cool though.

And Chuck never said JBG's guitar sounded like ringin' a bell, he said he could play it just like ringin' a bell.
