I'm working on upgrading my fender mim hss strat. I am trying to make it the best it can be, but on limited funds. I seen these pickups to replace the ceramic to an alnico 5 but don't want it to be a down grade or waist my money. Would you hold out for other after market pickups or does it make that big of difference... Here is the Link

dont believe everything you read on the internet. the stock pickups in MIM strats are awesome. of course this is only my opinion. just because something says "alnico" doesnt mean it is better.
i have 3 MIA strats, two of which have alnico V pickups, and 2 MIM strats with stock pickups, and i can honestly say i like them all equally.

Will it make a difference? Probably. Will it be better? Who knows.

I agree with @heltershelton , the stock MIM ceramic pickups get an undeserved bad rap. I actually like them too.

I am using a Mesa express 550 and a rivera duo 212. I use them clean and use cmatmod pedals for all the dirt.

Really.. EVERY quality pickup out there is around 75 bux and up.... for 20 bux one cannot even buy the quality parts to MAKE a pickup.

If you want "best" for the minimum $$ there is NONE that offers a better bang for the buck than Bill Lawrence pickups... any of them. http://wildepickups.com

And these are actually played by professionals, unlike any of the "bargain" pickups often mentioned..

It's possible those are not as good as your stock pickups.
The specs listed don't inspire confidence that they'd be consistent.
I think 7k is too hot for a neck pickup.

My thought is to look for some actual Fender plastic bobbin AlNiCo pickups.
TexMex, Delta Tone or similar can be found for not much more that those.
Are you wanting to replace 2 pickups ?

I'm planning on replacing all... But especially the bridge... It doesn't have the clarity. I'm really wanting something full and clear in the bridge. The neck and middle I can live with, but would replace them if I got a good enough deal on them

    Full and clear?

Ron Kirn's post above about Wilde pickups sound like just the ticket for you. And the best bang for your buck if you like them.

They are so clear they may expose some of you nuances. Whether that is good is up to you.

They are VERY clear sounding and "Hi-Fidelity", check out some videos on youtube for a better idea.

What is your opinion of Rose pickups? These can be less than $75 and they rock.

Agreed. Just because the MIM pups are ceramics doesn't mean they're inferior. In fact, the MIM ceramics are fantastic. I would not change them for a cheap set of Chinese pickups.
