My amp is in the garage and I have only certain hours to play and keep the peace. So... I want to buy a headphone amp, and have it down to either a Pocket POD or a Digitech RP360. Opinions... Which sounds the best? Can the Digitech work with just the guitar and cord? (No amp...?) I have my mind set on one or the other, so any info will help. Thanks!

"Well, Stratbats, what did you decide on?"
" I'm glad you asked. After weighing all the info, opinions, and whatnot, I decided to order the POD. I am quite relieved that I can practice quietly now... My last headphone amp was a Zoom from the 1990s and they can only sound better now. "
    "Amen to that, Stratbats."
" Thank you. Shall I pour you a little more bourbon? "
    "You most certainly can... "

I didn't see this thread until now but I use a Vox AC20 Amplug2. I can plug it into the output of either my guitar which I regularly take to work or into the output of my pedalboard. Plus, it has an Aux input so I can practice along to a track from my phone.

Thanks, I thought about putting one of them in with my POD order, they're small and seem handy. And have good reviews.

Yes I have an RP360, and it will work without an amp. It's pretty awesome with an amp as well.

I really dig on mine. I just need to remember to carry extra batteries with me because I tend to forget I have it on when I throw it in the case with the guitar after my lunch break is over and then the next day i'm like :mad::mad:

I’ve been using the iRig into GarageBand on my iPad with headphones. Dial 8n whatever sound I want, pick a backbeat if so desired and rock on. Perfect for quiet time playing.

Thats good to know, I was looking at headphones today myself.
I just picked up a used RP360XP and tinkered around with it today after work. I wasnt sure what to expect but I think I might end up using it more than some of the pedals I have. The effects sound pretty darn good and it seems user friendly when connected to a pc.

I was looking into the Line 6 products and came across the Digitech. I thought I'd get my feet wet with it before plunging in with $400+ I have a Line 6 UX1 which is good, but I think this Digitech effects sound better than the UX1 and its easier to setup with built in looper and some drum beats (which also sound good) I agree - I bought mine used for $100 :)

    I have 2 that were suggested: RP360, and a Vox Amplug 2

Pod is not bad but as someone else suggested, would you consider using your phone? An iRig + Amplitube mobile or Bias mobile is going to give you a really nice pocket set up with a lot of versatility.

I also have one that I use when I am at sea. The Amplug comes in a few different flavors. I have the Amplug Blues, but the OP may prefer one of the others.

I've had a pocket pod for donkeys years, plug in the guitar, headphones and phone or mp3 player and I'm in my own little world.

About 15 years ago, I downloaded every software effect program I could get my hands on: amplitudes, guitar rig, etc. I set it up with a USB interface. I was major pirate back then. Arghh matey!

I've got the Vox AmPlug AC30. It's physically a bit fragile, but works fine. It won't do AC30 clean, no matter how much you turn down the gain control. It's always a little hairy. Here's the entire signal chain for quiet practice.

My Pocket POD came this evening and finally I got to sit down with it and try it and WOW!! I was afraid I'd be disappointed, but nothing could be further from the truth. Just really great sounding, but my favorite is the Brit Class A... My guitar has never sounded better!! This is based on a Vox AC30, if I'm not mistaken? If so, I may move from my Fender BF Champ style amp to a Vox... I've been itching for a new amp!!

Download the desktop app, Vyzex Pocket POD, and you can control it directly from the desktop without having to navigate the 4-way slider.
