I finally have some time to learn to play guitar. I'm fifty. I've been working at it for a year or so. Really enjoying the process. Decided to pick up an inexpensive electric to see how it goes. I'm a lefty so not a lot of opportunity to try stuff out at local shops etc. I took a chance an an online purchase. Looks like a used Strat, but I really don't know much about it. These are the only photos I have. Interested in some of the opinions in this forum. I have been reading your posts for some time and love reading the discussions. I look forward to being more than a bystander. Thanks for your opinion in advance.

Do you have a little practice amp? What have you been using the last year?

I've been playing an acoustic. I have little Fender modeling amp that I plan to use. I forget what model. I will check and get back to you.

Looks really nice, like the colour. It's cool, just a question for the group...should the trem springs not be on the outside hooks ?

Just personal preference. I'm more worried that the whole guitar is back to front...

Welcome. I am a new member here as well. Looks like a nice specimen you picked up there! If you are a newbie to electrics, would highly recommend findings someone who is good at setting up the guitar. I've had guitars "off the shelf" that played terrible, but after a good setup were a joy to play. Congrats on the new axe. Let us know how it pans out.

Agreed. And then learn to set it up yourself.

I can do NOTHING in the mechanical realm, but I learned to do my own set-ups. It's not too difficult, and it's pretty low-risk. Even I didn't screw anything up. I found some helpful videos on YT, and I also spent $60 to take a class from a local guitar tech.
