As far as tone, here's a good friend of mine playing Hey Joe. He is playing an American Strat through a TS9, Vox Wah, and Twin Reverb. I love his tone. (Note, two guitarists. The guitarist who plays the first solo is using a MIM playing through a Peavy amp and no pedals. The guitarist who is singing does his solo later in the video around the 4:00 mark.) Like I said, I love his tone. Note also that the video and audio didn't sync. Still the audio gives the tone.

I bought it used as far as I know the pickup's are stock Texas specials.. I was actually getting on to talk about the pickup's I really like them for blues but when I go to rock it sounds like **** I'm thinking about buying a mim an getting those voodoo 69 pickups I didn't know it would be such a big difference in sound

Take a look at the 57-62 reissue pups. They sound really nice.

Could you please post some audio to what you’re talking about? I’d like to hear exactly what you’re comparing?

What amp are you using? What about pedals? Where are your settings at on the amp and pedals? That has a lot to do with tone also.
