This is my niece... not the squirrel, the squirrel whisperer. Thought maybe if Kevin wasn't doing anything...:thumb:

    ETA:
As I am told by my brother, my niece found an approximately 2 week old squirrel near death in the parking lot of her place of employment on a rather hot day. Unable to locate its nest, she took it home and nursed it back to health. Now it lives with her and her husband.

By day it has a large enclosure with plants and trees and no predators, and at night it comes into the house to hang out.

a lot of people think negatively of them, but they are actually good to have around. in the summertime they eat a lot of ticks and also keep ants away because they eat everything.
they might look mean, but they arent.
this one was kinda scared at first (awhile back) but now he eats with me sitting just a few feet away.

Careful if you're in flea country though, they're almost always infested.

Mine is still around. I think it might be living under my work shop.
They look kind of spooky at night with those white masks.
I've heard it said they carry allot of diseases, but I don't see why they would be worse than any other mammal, like raccoons, squirrels or mice.
Do you know if that's true or not?

ive read that they DONT carry alot of diseases. but they are animals and carry fleas which DO carry diseases.
some possums carry rabies.....and other things are found in their urine and feces....

but ya know what? i worry more about the humans and the stuff THEY carry.

For two mornings last week we had cougar prints in the dew on our back porch.
We are pretty sure it's a youngster as the prints are about 2.25" across and there has been
a family sited on the street above us.
We had a big area of concrete pored and I was concerned that the dear, who are always milling about, would walk through it...No dear but the wee cougar did! Luckily the concrete had set up but his little prints are visible.

BTW Kelly thanks to you I have taken to calling our resident humming bird Kevin...and he is a cheeky little devil too.

There’s an aggressive little SOB that jealously guards my feeder also. Hummers, on a pound for pound basis, are about the most aggressive creatures there are.
