Well he’s s roadies gave a burned one to Frank Zappa at the Miami Pop Festival. It doesn’t mean he burned it at the festival... it’s just something they had in the equipment van.... or something like that.

I had heard stories of how Jimi had some kind of ritual to decide which guitar would be "sacrificed" so it would not surprise me to find that he did it more than just Monterey, but as with everything surrounding a legend, it would be difficult to verify... particularly verifying stories of pre-show rituals.

This is my Hendrix Strat a case queen sad really it belongs in a Jimi tribute band or something like that they are no gimmick one of the nicest sounding strats that fender have made and oozing quality.
I keep thinking of selling it but I don’t think I would get what I paid which was a £1000 a few years back it’s a lovely neck but I find playing it is a bit like eating fish always looking where I am with it, I’m no Jimi by a million miles.
    My 97 tribute.

Part of Jimi's tone... arguably the only part unique to the guitar itself... is the reversed angle on the bridge pickup.
The difference in string length is counter to what is claimed... the shorter treble strings have the same tension, but they are slightly harder to bend (bass strings slightly easier).
But the reversed pickup orientation was absolutely a part of his tone when he was on the bridge pickup, since the pole pieces are under different nodes.

Yet SRV flipped the neck and tremolo block, and was still able to nail Jimi's tone with the "correct" pickup orientation.

But I'm with you... while the flipped Strat looks cool because of its unusual style (and it works well for Joe Perry), the ergos are horrible, with the tone pots in your armpit.
