I really don't think they're collectable or will go up in value. There were a ton of them made.
Edit: removed post.
Not to mention a new one will be cheaper......
Yes, I was wondering about that. I really like the Monterey strat and noticed that I can get a brand new one for less than $1000 but I thought maybe they were different in some way...
That’s $1000 CAD, not USD....these things are $1400 up here
$1223.19 plus 13% tax = $1,382.20
So it’s almost $400 cheaper for a practically brand new one than new from the store
OK got it you're in, Canada I missed that
And the first bunch are all asking over $1200....now how exactly is my $1000 price so ridiculous and so far out of whack?
Guitars are a terrible investment. The best time to sell a vintage guitar is RIGHT NOW to people who grew up idolizing guitar gods. When the kids of today hit 50 years old they will want 90's turntables and iPods.
Sorry, failed to notice you're in Canada.
I believe what he was referring to is the comment that somehow these will suddenly appreciate in value. Your asking price seems right in line with the $799 US I see several on Reverb for. There has been one of these on my local CL off and on for the past 7-8 months. They really only appeal to Hendrix fans and as such have a far smaller market than other MIM Fenders.
Sorry, I didn't realize this was your guitar for sale. Thought your OP was just a FYI post.
Good luck with the sale.
Yea. I don’t know if they will go up in value or not, only time will judge that.... but they are limited run so I’d imagine they have a better chance to go up in value than a standard MIM that gets mass produced on a daily basis. Plus I had to make the write-up sound good lol. I couldn’t just put “I’m selling my guitar, someone please buy it....”
I have one & bought it just because it looked like the era Jimi played in & I was a teenager in! It surprised me of how well it played/sounded/felt! It’s the only MIM I’ve ever purchased or played but I know some guys that play professionally & swear by them? For the price & how well it plays, I’m keeping mine! Good Luck on the sale!
