Hello guys, first off I'm sorry if this isn't the proper place to post this.. correct me if I made a mistake.

So I've been playing for 10 months now, got a guit for my birthday and started teaching myself how to play, been loving every minute of it, I completely fell in love and I've put in some hour since (even though I work and go out frequently I managed to find time).

To put this into context, this was recorded with my phone, me and some 2 dudes wanted to start a band, this was our first rehearsal where we didn't really come prepared or anything, we just decided on a couple of songs and wanted to make the most out of it without really learning the songs beforehand, we just wanted to see if we clicked.

So anyway, it was a blast, those two guys are amazing players with a lot of experience, both are bassists (one of them is pretty new to drums but I think he's doing great for now), and this is what came out of it, we managed to play through a Hendrix tune from start to finish, this was our second take and none of us played this tune before in our lives, just partially, but I'm sure every one of us listened to it hundreds of times.

I'm very proud of myself even though it was sloppy at times, I made my way through a Hendrix tune I hadn't practiced before.

Tell me what you guys think.

I like the tone of my guitar but the amp I was playing through was some not so great marshall solid state with a 4x12 cab, it doesn't sound terrible but it could be better definitely.

P.S. I'm sorry for my terrible singing, I couldn't focus on the singing much, and I'm a pretty bad singer anyway.

lots to love. keep at it!! the vocals are important, so definitely rehearse them - you voice is decent.. you'll be able to get it into shape... the fact that you all made it through this tune alive speaks volumes. keep on rockin!

Thank you for the support! I will definitely keep at it, it's an immeasurable part of my life now.

As for the voice, I've recently started taking lessons.. My reproductive hearing was 0, I couldn't sing any note I heard, it has gotten much better but it's super tough for me to play and sing, I have to focus on both things and usually my pitch and technique just totally lack, definitely need many more months of practice to be able to sing and play proficiently.

Thanks again, I'm so happy about this positive feedback! All the best friend

Thank you man! Means a lot to me to hear that, I've definitely worked hard.

Life is good a/f indeed, I've only discovered music at 20 years old and I feared I wasn't ever going to be good enough but all of those fears are gone now, I know I'll be great and more importantly, I'm having a ****ing blast playing music with my buddies.

    Much love

Glad you are enjoying yourself, I don't think anyone ever regrets learning to play, keep it up :thumb:

This is embarrassing! I’ve been “playing at” the guitar since the early 60’s and you put me to shame!

You and your friends have made an incredible start. Keep up the excellent work and enjoy your new career :D

Definitely, I've been getting so many of my friends into music lately, definitely never too late to start. It's such a wonderful thing I really do recommend it to almost everybody.

Hey, thank you for the kind words!

I'll be honest I'm young and can be pretty competitive at times, I've just got to be the best usually but if guitar has taught me anything it's that the person who enjoys it more is the winner, not the person who can play better or anything.

It's a hobby and a way of life, even though I enjoy getting a compliment once in a while and it does get me going the most important thing is to enjoy the music and live in it, nothing to be ashamed about if you do.

Always like playing with people that enjoy the music more than with people that are really good at it, and I've played with different people even in this short "career" that I've had.

Playing with other people who have the same musical taste as you, is the best way forward. Nothing wrong with being competitive, just as long as you understand that you’re not going to “win “ all of the time.

Even if you don’t play as well as you would like, it does not matter at all. You’re enjoying it and that’s what is important.:D

Thanks! I've been rocking Hendrix (or at least trying to) from month 3! Although it sounded like my guitar was dying, only recently have I managed to make it somewhat audible and listenable. It definitely feels good being able to play that music and to feel the confidence increase with playing each and every note.

A bit of advice I received in the 70's from my first real bandleader:
Guitar players are a dime a dozen.
If you can sing and play guitar you will never be out of work.
