I thought I posted this when the thread started but at any rate it is a fantastic and very informative thread on high pass filters and low-pass filters.

A Mesa engineer as well as a few other Pro Sound industry members are chiming in as well.

The discussion focuses on bass guitar but some posts from the last three or four days have mentioned applications of low pass filters on electric guitar as regards to fizzy Overdrive.

Do we bass players need High Pass Filters ? Peruse the thread and decide ;)

My Mesa D800+ does have a high pass filter. I always leave the knob halfway.

I went with the Broughton always on HPF.

My music room is terribly boomy, even with the cabinets isolated or raised off the floor. It's so nice to be able to crank the amp and retain my tone by dialing out the boom with the hpf.

Doesn't take up much real estate on the board either.

Can't wait to try it on a gig.

I use the high pass filter on my Q/Strip with good results.
