I am now an accomplished guitar player: last week I broke a string while playing, and this week I blew out an amp! I did both of these while ripping through screaming blues lead lines! Last year I played on stage in front of a live audience.

I must now be inducted in to the book of "Real Guitar Players - a registry of players that do more than just buy and sell equipment, chase tone, and post on internet forums"!

Congratulations! I have yet to blow an amp or a speaker, but I'm trying.

I blew out two 4x10" columns and fry the amp with my bass back in '79, I achieved the status of totally skint by the time I replaced them, never managed to break a string though ...

Broke lots of strings ... that's what backup guitars are for. Blew a fuse once, ten minutes before the gig started. No backup amp! Lucky it was the old cylindrical type available at all petrol (gas) stations.

I made a goal to play something.......anything live on stage at our church. Speaking with our worship leader as to what I should be learning or looking at but def a goal of mine by end of 2017.

I've had technical problems at our biggest gig of year each time so far. It's coming up again in February. It hasn't been a problem as I'm always prepared but I hope it doesn't happen again.

Remember one summer when I was seventeen, touring with a band, broke a string just before the solo on the same song, every night! Never managed to get through the song on just one guitar in front of a crowd. Thank you Floyd Rose!

I don't mean to burst bubbles here but I haven't broken a string since I was an utterly rubbish teenage guitar player.

    Sorry

Oh no that didn't sound condescending at all, and I have broken quite a few over the years.

Young and jamming with friends about 5 in the morning in my bands 2nd floor central city band room (why are they always up 2 flights of stairs !!) , wasted and having fun when my old 100 watt head cooked a valve for the umpteenth time...... grrrrrr
It killed a great jam and I was pretty over it dying all the time and stopping my fun....
Unplugged it, carried it to the window and threw it out....:eek:o_O
The guy cleaning the deserted street on his sweeper was like wtf ....

I must admit, the amp that I blew out is a Fender Mini Delux (you know that little toy amp you get in the front area at Guitar Center by the shot glasses)! It sits on my shelf at work, and last night I found myself last one in the office, so I pulled it down and plugged into it. It really is a cool sounding little amp. I turned on a backing track from yu tube and did some whaling in E minor. I was enjoying it and then the little plastic box started struggling and I figured the battery was just dying. I gave it the old lick test and gave a nice zing, so I am guessing I killed the amp. Maybe it was the speaker.

Congrats buddy! It's a great feeling the first time. It means you been dues paying. The second time is when it ceases to be fun any more. It just means you blew a bunch of money.
